Passport 1.1 Operational Differences
This documentation is for non-Windows-based ports of Passport Manager version 1.1.The Microsoft® Passport object, as ported and included in the various non-Windows-based SDK distribution files, is version 1.1. It is thus a slightly older version of the source Passport object than is found in the current Passport SDK for Windows platforms. As a result, the following capabilities are not supported for the version 1.1 ports of the Passport objects:
- Kids Passport—Kids Passport service cannot be supported for the following reasons:
- The PassportCrypt object does not support the Compress and Decompress methods. Because the Decompress method is required to handle the KPPVC parameter as passed by Kids Passport servers, sites using version 1.1 objects cannot meet certain Kids Passport operational requirements (for example, supporting a data collection or data removal page).
- Methods of Passport Manager do not have a parameter for specifying Kids Passport consent-handling levels at the Login server. Also, there is no HaveConsent method, which is used for Kids Passport consent determination.
- Methods of the Passport object version 1.1 do not support a unique authentication experience for Passport-aware clients or applications. (This feature is documented in the Passport SDK version 2.0).
- The Passport object version 1.1 does not offer multisite support based on host name determination of the request.
